Minister
The current Minister of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Macedonia, Ane Leshkoska, has a key role in the creation, coordination and implementation of state policies aimed at protecting and improving the environment, as well as sustainable and rational spatial planning. Through a strategic approach and institutional cooperation, the Ministry works to ensure a healthy and quality living environment for all citizens.
Within the framework of his/her responsibilities, the Minister advocates for the improvement of the legal framework, the application of European standards and the implementation of measures for the protection of natural resources, the improvement of air, water and soil quality, as well as the preservation of biodiversity. Special emphasis is placed on sustainable development, climate policies and responsible spatial management, with the aim of balanced economic development and the protection of the public interest.
Ministry
The Ministry ensures comprehensive protection of nature and preservation of biodiversity, through the implementation of policies and measures aimed at the sustainable use of natural resources. Within its competences, the Ministry actively works on waste and water resource management, as well as on the control and improvement of air and water quality, in order to ensure a healthy and safe living environment for citizens.
In addition, the Ministry plays a significant role in the preparation, coordination and implementation of spatial and urban plans, taking into account balanced and sustainable spatial development. Through an integrated approach, it ensures the harmonization of economic development with environmental protection and the public interest, which contributes to improving the quality of life and creating sustainable and functional communities.

Projects and plans
The Ministry actively participates in implementing a series of European and international plans, projects and initiativesin order to improve the environment, adapt to climate change and align with European standards and regulations. Within the framework of the European integration process, the Ministry coordinates the adoption and transposition of European Union legislation in the field of environment and climate change, known as "Chapter 27", thus directly contributing to the fulfillment of the criteria for membership of the Republic of North Macedonia in the EU.
