Skopje, 28.10.2025 Regarding the appearance of plastic packaging waste in the Vardar River and other larger and smaller watercourses, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning informs that the reasons for this situation are due to the unsatisfactory level of utility services provided by operators, especially in rural areas.
Skopje, 25.10.2025 The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning informs the public that there is no leakage of lindane in OHIS, and at the same time it is continuously implementing the process of cleaning up lindane in OHIS. The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning is continuously working to solve one of the biggest environmental challenges in the country, the cleaning up of lindane in the former OHIS industrial complex. Additionally, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in the evening, an extraordinary inspection was conducted, during which it was determined that there was absolutely no leakage of lindane or any other safety violations at the OHIS location.
Skopje, 24.10.2025 Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Ane Laškoska, today held a coordination meeting with the Clean Air Working Group, which discussed the implementation of the Clean Air Action Plan and the preparation of short-term measures for the period November 2025 - March 2026. Activities for enhanced inspection controls, clearing of illegal landfills, raising public awareness and transparent monitoring of air quality were agreed upon at the meeting.
The event is organized by UNDP, in cooperation with the Office of the Ombudsman and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), within the project "Enhancing the Role of the Ombudsman in Environmental Justice", funded by the Norwegian Embassy through the UNDP global rule of law programme.
