Hoxha–Jaupaj: Strengthening Coordinated Protection of Cross-Border Areas

Tirana, 18.02.2026 Within the framework of the Ministerial Forum for Corridor 8 in Tirana, the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Muamet Hoxha, met with the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Albania, Sofjan Jaupaj.

At the meeting, Minister Hoxha stressed the importance of joint coordination in the protection of cross-border areas and in the implementation of European standards for preserving biodiversity and addressing climate challenges. He emphasized that regional cooperation is key to ensuring sustainable development and accelerating the European integration of the countries in the region.

The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the areas of environmental protection, natural resource management, waste treatment, as well as promoting joint projects within the framework of the European Green Agenda.

Minister Jaupaj expressed readiness to deepen the institutional partnership and implement concrete initiatives that will contribute to improving the quality of the environment and the lives of citizens in both countries.

The two ministers agreed to intensify cooperation through exchange of experiences, joint projects and coordination in regional and international forums, with the aim of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development in the region.
