Hoxha: Partnership with the World Bank Continues for a Systemic Fight Against Air Pollution

Skopje, 16.02.2026 The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha, held a working meeting with representatives of the World Bank, led by Ms. Karol Megevand, at which they discussed the current cooperation and the possibilities for its further deepening in the area of ​​air quality management.

The meeting concluded that several significant projects aimed at improving the air pollution situation are currently being implemented, but that additional investments remain necessary. Minister Hoxha emphasized that his goal is a systemic change in dealing with air pollution, as a key priority in his work and in the work of the Ministry. He emphasized that long-term and sustainable solutions require a strong partnership with international institutions and continued support in the implementation of reforms.

In that regard, Hoxha expressed readiness to continue and deepen cooperation with the World Bank, emphasizing that open communication will continue in the future, with a common goal - improving air quality and protecting the health of citizens.
The Minister pointed out that the Ministry and the Government are continuously working to improve air quality through the Clean Air Action Plan, the Program for the period 2024–2030, as well as through ongoing projects financed through IPA 2 and IPA 3. It was emphasized that there remains a need for additional investments and enhanced technical support to reduce pollution and ensure a clean environment for all citizens.
